As part of a European phone launch, Sony Ericsson announced the W710i. The sport-themed Walkman branded handset reminds of Nokia's new athletic themed 5500. It features a motion sensor to track speed, distance and time. Several fitness applications come standard on the handset. But besides athletics, the W710i is a full-featured handset with music playback functions.

Features of the Sony Ericsson W710i include:

  • Quad Band EDGE 850/900/1800/1900
  • Main display: 176×220 pixel screen with 262k colors
  • Outer-display: 128×128 pixels, 4-level orange on black
  • 2 megapixel camera
  • Memory Stick Micro (M2) slot, 512mb card included

Sony Ericsson expects to begin shipping the W710i in the third quarter. It will come in either Performance Graphite or Hatha Violet.
